Day 2 - Settling In

So now I am sitting in Haiti, moved into my room in the guesthouse, and we are settling in for the night.  Met the group last night briefly and we had a good trip today.   With Haitian driving, about everything went as smoothly as could be expected.  We took the trek from Port 'au Prince in a bus exclusively for our team.  This we took to Cavion (sp?) A small town at the base of the mountain.  From there we swapped out for a more rugged vehicle to brave the rugged mountain road.  And rugged it was.  Fun story about this vehicle, there was a luggage rack on top, which ended up being where most of us rode, and the luggage inside.  It was actually really refreshing to be out in the open air, and as it was getting dark, we were able to get a look at the stars.  The road had lake-sized potholes and some good sized rocks.  We enjoyed riding on top, giving the occasional bonswa to locals, joking that we shouldn't smile to much to avoid getting mosquitos caught in our teeth.

Anyway, we made it safe and sound, met a few of the missionaries, got a briefing from Daryl, and are looking forward to church in the morning.

The team has been great, and I am looking forward to spending this week with them.  I already met Aaron Luthi a couple of times, and have met a few of the other brothers previously as well.  The ones who I didn't know as well I have started to build a relationship with, and am really excited to get to know them better.

So I'm pretty tired, so this is fairly brief.

Today's Prayer:
God, thank you for safe travels, and a great team.  Grant me strength and peace of mind.  May your spirit go before us and prepare the way for our gifts and abilities.  Please teach me to be content with the abilities and personality that you have given me, and teach me to use it to its fullness, selflessly, and effectively.  Bless our time together, keep us safe. We love you.  Amen.

I'll try to post some pictures if possible.
