Where am I in life?

A common question people ask me. So if you don't know, or have forgotten, this is where I am.

I am a Senior at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana with a major in Industrial Technology.   During the semester I live in a two bedroom apartment with 3 roommates close to Purdue campus.  I hail from Remington, but I spend a lot of time in West Lafayette during the semester.  I plan to graduate in December of 2014, and then... well we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

What is Industrial Engineering?  (few people know this)
Well It consists of managing processes in any setting, to run without wasted steps, time, people or energy.  A lot of my learning is focused on a manufacturing environment, but it can also be applied to about any setting that provides a good or service.  An example being hospitals, (you know when you are thinking 'why am a waiting....'  or  'didn't I just fill this out 10 times' or 'this is pointless...'  yeah that is where Industrial Engineering comes in) . It could also apply to airlines (you know when you are standing in line thinking 'this could be going a whole lot smoother', or on the rare occasion "well that was easy" yeah that would be my job).

What have you been up to?
Well I had the opportunity to go to Haiti this past summer for two months, which was a great blessing and has further opened up my heart to missions.  There were some great experiences that you can read about in my blogs in may-august. Right now I am living the college life at Purdue and am involved with the young group there (the PYG or Purdue Young Group).  This group has been a great blessing and has helped me to grow tremendously in these past few years.  I am living in an apartment with a couple of brothers from church, and my roommate who is a friend of a friend from Bluffton.  As much as I have enjoyed the PYG and group living in Marsteller apartments, I am planning on moving out this summer.

Where are you going in life?
That is an interesting question.  I just accepted an internship with Case New Holland in Benson, MN.  From there I may work part time next semester with a small spring company in Winamac, IN.  As far as a full-time career, it is hard to say.  That is a bridge I haven't yet come to.  I could end up in Minnesota, or in Francesville, or in Lafayette, or anywhere else for that matter. Where it is 'only an internship'  as a senior graduating in December, my decision for this summer will directly affect where I will end up working out of college, as internships are designed to lead to full-time opportunities.  Where will this journey take me?  Your guess is as good as mine at this point.  I am excited to see where God will lead me!
